In Feng Shui, Flying Stars denote a sophisticated framework of energy forces that impact the Qi, or vital energy, within a structure or environment. These stars are denoted by numerical values ranging from 1 to 9 and are linked to particular orientations within the area. The Flying Stars methodology derives its foundation from the Lo Shu Square, which comprises nine squares housing numbers organized in a predetermined arrangement.

Flying Stars Analysis

In the first part of this introductory course on Feng Shui, we learned how a building is divided into 8 Palaces and 24 sectors using the Luo Pan. Each Palace is associated with a Base Star (based on the construction year), which essentially governs the Palace, a Mountain Star (based on the sitting sector), and a Water Star (based on the facing sector), depending on the magnetic orientation of the building. Essentially, the role of the Base Star is to either support or weaken the Mountain and Water Stars, and the effects of these latter stars determine the quality of each Palace.

What are the characteristics of Flying Stars?

It's crucial to memorize them eventually, so here we present again the positive and negative characteristics of each star.

Remember that there are always 3 stars in their period, which exhibit only positive traits, while the other 6, particularly display negative traits. Fortunately, the energy of the stars in their period is stronger than those considered extinguished. The two Water and Mountain stars in the same Palace will interact with each other, and the effects of their interaction will be further discussed.

What are the steps of Flying Stars Analysis?

So far, we have covered the following stages of Flying Stars Analysis:

1. Identifying the Period: Feng Shui operates in cycles known as "periods," each lasting 20 years. The current period is Period 9, which began on 4th February 2024 and will last until 2043. Periods are essential because they determine the energy map of a space.
2. Creating the Flying Star Chart: Using the Luo Shu grid, which consists of nine squares representing the eight compass directions plus the center, we divided the space being analyzed into specific sectors.
3. Assigning Stars: Within each sector of the grid, we assigned numbers 1 through 9 to represent the Flying Stars. These stars have both a static and a dynamic aspect, with the static stars being determined by the period and the dynamic stars changing annually based on the Luo Shu grid.

It's essential to note:

• A combination only manifests when the sector is active (used, ventilated, circulated) and will not manifest, for example, in a storage room or a room rarely visited.
• In star combinations, the most synchronized star is the strongest.
• Between 2024 and 2043, the strongest stars in order are 9, 1, and 2.
• The Mountain Star is the star of people, health, and relationships
• The Water Star is the money star or star of prosperity

Next, we will move on to the next stage of the Flying Stars analysis, namely Interpreting the Stars.

Interpreting the Stars

Each Palace is influenced by the combination of the Mountain and Water Stars. To better understand the effects of these interactions, it's important to consider that each Flying Star is associated with specific items such as family members, organs, colors, seasons, weather, taste, senses, emotions, planets, and day periods. The interactions between the static and dynamic stars influence different aspects of life, such as health, wealth, career, relationships, and overall harmony.

The only effect of the Basic Star and the element representing each palace is to either bolster or weaken the Mountain and Water Stars hosted in that palace. Later on, we'll see that both the Flying Star of the Year and the Flying Star of the Month also exert influence on these stars, making things much more dynamic.

Mountain and Water Stars Combinations - Part 1

Without considering the periods when the stars are active or dormant, their general characteristics are as follows:

1. wisdom, fame, and luck
2. fertility and health
3. bad luck, quarrels and theft
4. writings, creativity, scientific achievements, love relationships
5. power, change, death, trials, disease
6. authority and respect
7. competition and destruction
8. happiness and well-being
9. it accentuates the positive or negative characteristics of the star it is next to.

Also, in general, numbers 1, 6, and 8 are considered auspicious, 2, 3, and 7 are unfavorable, 4 is neutral, 5 represents change, which can be auspicious but often not as desired, and 9 acts as an amplifier.

Each Star represents a body of Qi, and when two stars meet, their union gives rise to a third one, which overlays its effects on those of the stars taken separately.

The analysis leading to the results below was based on this information, except where explicitly stated otherwise. Knowing, for example, that the period from 2024 to 2043 is the period of 9, during which the active stars are 9, 1, and 2, and the others are dormant (including 8, which was active until February 2024), and that during this period, the stars 9, 1, and 2 exhibit only positive traits (see the table at the beginning of this article), it remains an exercise of imagination to determine how the following results are modified, especially in the case of stars 8 and 2, which have recently changed categories.

The first number represents the Mountain Star and the second the Water Star.

1-1 Wealth; if a woman gives birth, the children are gifted with artistic spirit and creativity and achieve early success; beneficial for GUA 3 and 4.  The negative aspects are kidney problems, blood issues, infertility, ear problems (leading to deafness); miscarriage.

1-3 Star of fame and popularity; great potential for wealth and distant travels; also indicates various sports activities; during gossip period 8, could bring legal problems

1-4 Star of travel, romance, and sex (if 4 is her type); favorable combination with great potential for academic recognition; recommended for office placement; women may not remain chaste and men may become effeminate; extramarital affairs, adultery; if excessive water element is present in this sector, there's a risk of partner's extramarital affairs; excessive water (bathroom) - partner cheats; 4 is not on time - sexual scandals

1-5 Genital diseases, intimate secrets, ear problems - hearing impairment, injuries/accidents to the eldest son; strong men fall ill

1-6 Literary or artistic fame, salary increase if the office is in the area of stars; very favorable combination for job promotion, political success; if also the monthly star, money is earned in that month; encountering SHA QI - sexual scandal or forbidden passions; lack of sex; possibility of anxiety and panic attacks

1-7 Star 1 symbolizes wine. If it appears in the bedroom area, this combination attracts multiple short-lived love affairs and many relationships - how to activate? relationships are YIN, so star 1 is active, making the bedroom there; women - are "easy"; men - like wine and "easy" women; if another negative star appears in the same palace - animal attack; kidney and bladder problems; not on time - a forced departure from the country or exile. Star 1 is a YIN star and, if it is also the star of the year could bring - depression, kidney diseases, and ears.

1-8 "The return of the middle son home" financial gains; health improvement; If star 8 is afflicted, the combination is not active; risk of deafness in old age. Children leave home.

3-4 Combination of poverty; this combination produces psychological traumas for the residents. 3 must be deactivated; if born in a house with this combination - psychological traumas; poverty; the eldest daughter tends to have bone and joint problems; the eldest daughter or son - sudden poverty - from copyright, plagiarism, etc.

3-5 Worse than 2-5; the most agitated combination, should be avoided - violent death; gambling, betting; loss of money due to stupidity, eventually betting or gambling

3-6 Affects only if there are boys in the house and affects the eldest boy; accidents resulting in limb fractures, paralysis, accidents, leg problems
