Tips and Tricks for Ba Zi Analysis

Cycles of 5 elements

Among the five elements, three main cycles exist productivity, weakening, and control. When analyzing the five elements in a Destiny Chart through the lens of these cycles, consider the following:

  • Earth always produces slowly.
  • Fire and water produce the fastest.
  • If the fire is poorly aspected, it is implemented too quickly.
  • Metal produces water through condensation = false production.
  • 丙 Fire Yang—birthed from Shen (spirit)—is not produced by anything.
  • 了 Yin Fire is the most destructive element.
  • 了 Yin Fire is produced by 甲 Yang Wood and 乙 Yin Wood.
  • Fire is the master of change—it alters everything.
  • Reinvention requires fire.
  • Poorly aspected wood leads to weight gain (creates metal).
  • Poorly aspected wood leads to pituitary gland diseases.
  • 了 Yang Fire produces 己 Yin Earth.
  • 戊 Yang Earth is produced by stars (mountains are formed through tectonic movements caused by star shifts).
  • 戊 Yang Earth produces 庚 Metal in mountains.
  • 辛 Yin Metal is always polished and needs sunlight to shine.
  • In certain cases, 己 Yin Earth can produce 辛 Yin Metal—precious metals are found in sand.
  • 己 Yang Metal produces 癸 Yin Water through condensation.
  • 壬 Yang Water (ocean) cannot be produced by metal.
  • Water produces wood, but 壬 Yang Water (ocean) drowns both 甲 Yang Wood (trees) and 乙 Yin Wood (grass)—too much water is not good for wood.
  • 癸 Yin Water is weakened by 甲 Yang Wood and 乙 Yin Wood.
  • 壬 Yang Water is temporarily weakened by wood through dams.
  • 庚 Yang Metal is weakened by 癸 Yin Water and 壬 Yang Water, but it's an apparent weakness because rusting and oxidation are reversible.
  • 辛 Yin Metal is weakened by 癸 Yin Water and 壬 Yang Water, but it's an apparent weakness because rusting and oxidation are reversible.
  • 戊 Yang Earth is weakened by 庚 Yang Metal—it's extracted from mountains, from the earth.
  • 戊 Yang Earth is not weakened by 辛 Yin Metal (it actually motivates it).
  • 了 Yin Fire is weakened by 己 Yin Earth.
  • 甲 Yang Wood is weakened by 了 Yin Fire—they consume each other, in rare instances of extreme dryness, and by 丙 Fire Yang.
  • 甲 Yang Wood and 乙 Yin Wood control 戊 Yang Earth and 己 Yin Earth slowly.
  • 丙 Fire Yang and 了 Yin Fire melt 庚 Yang Metal and 辛 Yin Metal.
  • 己 Yin Earth controls water with dams.
  • 庚 Yang Metal controls 甲 Yang Wood and 乙 Yin Wood.
  • 辛 Yin Metal combines with 乙 Yin Wood.
  • 壬 Yang Water and 癸 Yin Water extinguish 了 Yin Fire (extinguish passion).
  • 癸 Yin Water (mist) blocks 丙 Fire Yang (sun)—it self-sabotages because mist (vapors) are generated by the sun evaporating 壬 Yang Water (ocean), thus producing 癸 Yin Water.

When analyzing the Destiny Chart, consider:

  • Metal—the communication element—if absent externally, communication is poor; if absent internally, communication at home is poor. Women with a lot of metal have large breasts.
  • Earth—you're trustworthy. In the year or month, you're unsure; if it's only here, you become aggressive; in the hour or day, you're timid.
  • Water—sufficient water leads to good ideas and intelligence; wood is needed to implement them. Only in the year—loves traveling. Day Master = 壬 Yang Water—loves traveling. Day Master = 壬 Yang Water—dual personality. Actors need water.
  • If the following elements are born during the day, it's good: 戊 Yang Earth (especially), 己 Yin Earth, 甲 Yang Wood, 乙 Yin Wood, 丙 Fire Yang.
  • A person's beauty can be seen through the quality of 乙 Yin Wood and 辛 Yin Metal (if they're adjacent in the Destiny Chart, vanity may appear).
  • If there's no 乙 Yin Wood in the Destiny Chart, there's no physical flexibility—accidents may occur (muscle tears, sprains, etc.) during mobility exercises.
  • Too much earth—clumsy dancing.

When analyzing the 5 stars, consider:

Wealth Star:

  • If the Wealth Star (WS) is found only in the celestial stems, it indicates a desire to appear wealthy without actually possessing wealth.
  • A weak Ming Zhi (Day Master) but with many WS in the Heavenly Stems (HN) suggests that there's a lot of money around you, but it's not yours (for example, if you work with money: cashier, banker, auditor, financial analyst, etc.).
  • Ideas leading to wealth emerge when the WS is in the Destiny Chart.
  • If the WS is in the year pillar of the Destiny Chart for boys (0-17 years), it means they are pampered.
  • A hidden WS in the day pillar indicates a happy marriage.
  • Remember the Chinese saying: "Too much wealth is not good for health."
  • For the WS to be of quality, the Day Master must be strong.

Influence Star:

  • A strong Day Master and multiple occurrences of the Influence Star (IS) in the Destiny Chart represent the number of marriages.
  • If the star is unfavorable and in conflict, it indicates a tendency to break the law.
  • The ability to differentiate between good and bad is determined by the strength of the star—look at the root of the month pillar.
  • To assess the strength of any element, consider the season.
  • Protections should be activated during the time interval of the IS star.
  • To activate it, engage in activities corresponding to the respective star—refer to the elements.
  • If the IS is weak, people tend to be indecisive.
  • This element must appear somewhere, anywhere in the chart.

Resource Star:

  • If the Resource Star (RS) is not in the Destiny Chart, it suggests that the mother is far away or deceased.
  • Having a lot of RS in the Destiny Chart(>50%) indicates suspicion and sometimes laziness.
  • What we've learned is provided by resources.
  • In pillars before the age of 31, boredom is common.
  • In pillars after the age of 31, correct actions are taken.
  • If the RS is weak earth, mothers are consumed resources (especially if the mother is fire).

Output Star:

  • If the Output Star (OS) is in the celestial stems, it indicates the ability to make money from it.
  • It's also known as the Secondary Wealth Star.
  • If it's in clashes, it can lead to miscarriages in women.
  • A strong Day Master leads to a good OS.

Friends Star:

  • If there are competitors in the celestial stems, it suggests that for men, their wives have lovers.
  • The same star on each level of the same column suggests longevity.
  • If the Day Master is strong metal and prosperous, control is needed; if it's a woman, control is achieved through water.
  • If the WS is weak favorable wood, it depends on the father.
  • A hidden yin metal indicates a girl.
  • The most favorable element is water—look in your Destiny Chart to see which element is most favorable for the job.
  • Are you shy? Look at the celestial stems—the strongest Qi is in the month pillar (celestial level), indicating toughness.
  • If there's no husband, it's because there's the fire element in the spouse pillar (2 x 丙 Fire Yang).
